Meeting the Goals, Living the Dream

I had 16 goals for this quarter (you can see them here), which ends on September 30th. So far, I’ve completed 8 of them. I’m still looking for beta readers for The Invisible. I can do some revision with what I have, but I want to make sure this is as good as I can get it.. I’ve gotten some feedback, but it isn’t enough. Hopefully, we’ll get some more people to read it for me and tell me what they think. If you’re interested, let me know in the comments.

I’m working on getting my hardcopies for both my books. Weird, but I’ve almost run out of my print run for Heir of Chaos. I’ve reformatted it some in order to have it match Illusion of Truth, but the content is the same. I’ll be using these for my giveaways, which I’ve still got to set up. I’ll let you know here once I have that up and running.

Currently, I’m working on Corruption of Blood, specifically reviewing what I have written already so I can complete my scene list. I’m adding and deleting some stuff as well to get a jump on what some of the changes are.

All of this has unfortunately cut into my time posting my world here on the site. It is still part of the plan, but I have to set my priorities. The most important thing is to get the stories written to meet my deadlines. Then, the marketing part so I can get the word out on my books. Finally, posting the world for those who are interested. With National Novel Writing Month coming up soon (November really isn’t that far away), I need to focus on finishing the projects I’ve started so I can prepare for the next project.

After writing three novels, publishing two, writing and publishing a novella, almost ready to publish a short story and getting ready to write a second, some people have asked me if I’m feeling burned out. Honestly? No. I get so many ideas to write, I can’t possibly write them all. It’s when I stop writing that I get burned out and stressed.

I recommend finding the hobby that allows you to feel the same way. Trust me, watching TV or even movies usually isn’t enough. Find something you can use to go deep and learn about. If you want to do TV and movies, take a film class and learn how they do that. Or learn to paint. Or hike. Read. Join a scrapbooking club or learn to play chess. Take the time to disconnect from the internet, TV, and video games and go out into the world. There’s a lot out here to learn and see. I know I’m a lot happier seeing it for myself than seeing it through someone else’s eyes.

I’ll be back next week with more. Hopefully, I’ll have more things crossed off my list! Thanks for all the support.
