Having So Much Fun

This has been an unbelievable week for me. First, I’ve signed up to put a short story into the Des Moines Writer’s Workshop anthology. The theme for this group of short stories is mental health awareness. The working title for it is The Invisible. I’m already on phase 3 of my process for it. My goal for that story is 10,000 words, which is about 30 pages of text in a typical paperback. I need to get that submitted by September 1st.

I was also accepted into the Author Fair at the Des Moines Public Library. I’ll be featuring both Heir of Chaos and Illusion of Truth at the show. This means I have to get that book done so I have it. The show is October 8th at the Central Library from 1 to 3 PM. I’ll post more information as I get it.

On the editing front, we are officially over half way through it! I’m through chapter 37 (of 59). I’ve received the edits for some more, but haven’t had a chance to go through them, yet. My goal is to get it done and published in July. I think we’re on track for that, but the sooner the better. Once I have the final edits completed, I’ll go through the whole thing again for proofreading, get my cover, and put it out!

One of the things a member of the Saturday Writers uses for her marketing was giving away the first section of her serial. I thought that was a great idea. I don’t have a serial, but I have been writing some short stories. So, I’ve decided to write another short story to publish and give away as a marketing tool. Once it is ready, I’ll be posting it here as well. The print copies will be as cheap as I can make them on Amazon, but the e-book version will be free.

And in case you were worried, I’m still working on the first draft of Corruption of Blood. I need to get that drafted so I can prepare for National Novel Writing Month in November.

So, in case you lost track, I need to get Illusion of Truth published in July, The Invisible submitted by September 1, the as yet unnamed short story completed by October 8, the first draft of Corruption of Blood drafted, and my preparation completed for Book 4 of the series by November 1. It is going to be a busy few months!

On top of that, I have the opportunity to get my books into a bookstore! Beaverdale Books in Des Moines has an extensive selection of local authors available. They’ve offered to carry some of my titles once I have more titles. I’m hoping to do a signing there in the future.

There’s been so much going on, I haven’t had a chance to update the site with any world information, but I have updated the Books section with my expected release dates.

As always, thank you so much for your support!
