Religions

There are several different religions in the world. The primary religion is Pantheism, or the worship of the gods. Well over 70% of the world believe in these gods and goddesses. The other major religions are Elementalism, Spiritualism, Krinism, and Inconnuism. There are also minor cults that are local to some regions.

PANTHEISM

Pantheism is the major religion in the continent. The holy city of Frothwere, in the kingdom of Myos, holds the seats of power for most of the gods. The only exception is Iricil. Her high priests are in Baldur for reasons that have been lost in time. Most people divide the gods into three camps, the Gods of Light, The Gods of Darkness, and the Heretical Gods. Although adherents believe that all the gods exist, worship of the Gods of Darkness and the Heretical Gods is typically frowned on at best and a capital offense at worst.

The Gods of Light

Sirek – The Lord of Creation, Bringer of Order, King of the Gods
Myril – God of the Sun, Keeper of the Light, Destroyer of the Forces of Darkness
Iricil – Goddess of the Family, Bringer of Children, Mistress of Healing
Morn – God of Justice, Judge of Man and Beast
Kalim – Goddess of Crops, Mistress of Plants, Keeper of the Vine
Shaimon – God of Weather, Keeper of the Seasons, Lord of Change
Mercurius – God of Peace, Lord of Diplomacy
Solemi – God of Passings, Lord of the Afterlife
Uramir – God of Wisdom, Keeper of the Books, Bringer of Advancement

The Gods of Darkness

Drakyr – God of Damnation, Lord of Torture
Tark – God of Darkness, Lord of the Moon, Keeper of Thieves
Lyram – God of Lies, Lord of Mischief, Master of Deceit
Cyris – God of Disease, Cull of the World

Heretical Gods

Versae – God of Time, Lord of Prophecy

The Lords of Chaos

Calis – God of Hatred, Lord of War, Master of Slaughter
Syrinx – Goddess of Magic, Lady of Immolation
Karel – God of Oceans, Lord of Floods
Karada – God of the Arts, Lord of Sacrifice, Master of Insanity
Hoga – God of Luck, Lord of Gambling
Leoris – Goddess of Disaster, Lady of Flame, Mistress of the Tempest
Sholak – God of Passion, Lord of Fury, Master of Vengeance

ELEMENTALISM

Elementalism is practiced primarily in the Tarval Mountains in the far south. Small cults of Elementalists can be found in most of the realms. There are no hierarchy or main churches with Elementalists, although they have many holy sites where parishioners gather for rituals and ceremonies. The Elemental gods each rule over their own realm.

The Elemental Gods

Arathmus – Lord of Flame
Castia – Lady of Air
Heritus – Lord of Water
Melthia – Lady of Earth
Orinia – Lady of Metal

No other gods exist according to Elementalists. The Pantheists are simply worshiping false gods.

SPIRITUALISM

Spiritualism is the primary religion of the Nokolai in the Plains of the South. There are no gods, per se, but they believe that reality is a manifestation of the spirits around them. For example, there is a spirit called Willow, who is the epitome of what a willow should be. All willows manifest through the machinations and will of the Spirit Willow. This is true for all of nature. By currying favor of the spirits, parishioners believe they can call upon their patrons for aid when necessary.

Important spirits include Sky, Rain, Corn, Apple, Mountain, and River.

Spiritualists reject the idea that there are gods at all. Those who believe in other religions are simply elevating some spirits over others and calling them by different names.

KRINISM

Krin is the one god on high. He is father, creator, destroyer, and giver of rebirth. He rules the outer realms, where his many angels and demons serve his infinite will. Krinism is practiced in the western part of the continent, where the reach of the Pantheists was broken many years ago. It began as a small cult that has since become larger because of its message of hope and promise of an afterlife in the Heavens for those who believe.

INCONNUISM

Inconnuism is an embrace of the great mystery of life. There are no gods, no benign overseer looking over life. There is only the reality that there are many beings of power who vie for control in this and all other planes of reality. These beings should not be worshiped, but understood. Learning and interacting with creatures such as these can be dangerous, the morals of such beings almost incomprehensible. Therefore, these beings are to be opposed, no matter how benign or “good” they appear to be.

To the Inconnu, the only difference between and angel, demon, or elemental is method. They are not to be trusted. Inconnuism is unique in that they believe that all of the other religions are actually true, even when they seemingly contradict each other. They believe that there are spirits, Gods named Krin, Sirek, and Drakyr, and that the elemental planes are ruled by Elemental Gods. None of these beings are to be trusted, but all should be learned about. Only by learning about these beings and their followers, can Sentient Life continue to flourish on the Prime Plane.
