Church Hierarchy

Every country has one Pontiff. Every town, village, and city has members of the priesthood has one high priest. The other priests are called simply priests. The priests in the area nominate high priests. The nominees are then either accepted or rejected by the Pontiff. The office of Pontiff is given by a ¾ vote of all the priests in the country in question. Individual countries have little influence over other countries, and they have no voice in the hierarchy successions in the other countries. The Pontiff of Myos holds the Seat of Iricil in Myos. Only high priests may be accepted as Pontiff. Most priests of Iricil live in monasteries, and most major cities have at least one monastery. Each monastery is headed by a high priest.

Initiation into Priesthood

Initiation requires 18 months of uninterrupted meditation and study. The initiate will learn the methods of healing, the rituals of marriage, the rituals of baptism, and the healing of people’s hearts. During this time, the initiates take the Oath of Serenity, saying that they will never raise arms against another sentient being. They will try to bring people together and try to heal all wounds.

Initiation into Faithful

Those who wish to worship Iricil must swear the Oath of Peace, which states that the follower will follow the edicts of Iricil.

Edicts of Iricil

  1. Life is a precious gift, do not forsake it.

  2. To kill sentient life is an affront to the goddess.

  3. Families are one of the gifts of Iricil, accept them and rejoice. (Priests must get married)

Suborders of Priesthood

Each monastery is under the control of the high priests. Each priest is allowed to interpret the edicts of Iricil for themselves. This leads to very heated debates, but the individual priests do not create schisms in the church. To do so might weaken the forces of life, and hinder their ability to do what they can to help those who need it.
