Steady Progress

I’ve completed my scene list and am starting the first draft of my short story, The Invisible. My goal is to have a draft complete by this time next week. I’m still excited about it, but worried that it will be too long to meet the restriction of 10,000 words or less. We’ll see after I have a draft how much I’ll have to cut, but you can’t cut anything before you write it all down.

Changeling Ward is having some technical difficulties on my end, but my compatriots are helping me out with that. Hopefully, we’ll have something to show for that here in the next week. As always, here’s hoping that we get that off the ground soon. Fingers crossed!

I’ve decided to post my quarterly goals here from now on. I’ve seen a few people do this in vlogs and YouTube videos. I usually set monthly goals when I do my normal planning, so who knows, maybe I’ll do this every month. For now, I’ll start with quarterly goals and move on from there.

My goals for July-September for writing are:

  1. Write my first draft of The Invisible.
  2. Alpha read The Invisible.
  3. Revise The Invisible based on my alpha read and submission restraints.
  4. Submit The Invisible to beta readers (if you want to be a beta reader, let me know in the comments!).
  5. Revise The Invisible based on beta readers.
  6. Edit The Invisible.
  7. Submit short story (due September 1).
  8. Proofread Illusion of Truth.
  9. Approve cover for Illusion of Truth.
  10. Publish Illusion of Truth.
  11. Develop scene list for Corruption of Blood.
  12. Finish first draft of Corruption of Blood.
  13. Plan, write, and prepare to publish as yet unknown short story.
  14. Read The Vanished Man by Jeffrey Deaver.
  15. Hold a giveaway on Goodreads.com.
  16. Hold a giveaway on Amazon.com.

Holy crap that’s a lot. Wish me luck!

I’m also adding a page to the website where I’ll have my races listed. It is only a partial list for now. As with everything else, I’ll be adding content on Sundays.

If there’s something you want to see or know more about, let me know in the comments below.
