Working on Characters

I’d like to say I’m sorry for not posting yesterday. To be honest, I forgot it was Sunday because of the three day weekend. Fortunately, I have today to write and post. It’s been a lot of fun the past week.

I’m almost done with my character write-ups (only two left), which I think I’ll be able to get done today or tomorrow. Then, I’ll be working on the synopsis based on all the work I’ve done on the characters. I’m really excited about the direction I’m going with these.

I don’t have any more editing done, so I’m going to have to push back Illusion of Truth again. I’ve followed up with my editor, but things are not going well for her. I’m pulling for her. She’s a great editor and friend, so we’ll just have to push things back another month. On another note, the anthology is being edited and one of the author’s is doing some major rewrites. I’m thinking of taking some time and doing that myself. I really hurried through my novella, so it wouldn’t be a bad idea to dust it off and make sure everything makes sense.

JoAnna Penn of the Creative Penn did a great interview on YouTube about book bundling. It has inspired me to bundle my books more frequently than I had originally planned.

My original plan was to put out ten Blake Heira books, then cap the series off with a trilogy. I’d write five books, then bundle them. I’d then put out five more books, bundling them. Then, I am planning to write a trilogy, bundling them. So, thirteen books in the series in three bundles. The issue is that it will take a long time to write five books. She recommends bundles of three books, and the person she was interviewing agreed. Why wait to add value for your readers?

On top of that, the plan I had for book 7 (yes, I have plans for all of the books in the series) wasn’t one I’m super excited about. If I eliminated that one, I could put out three bundles of three books, then put out the capstone trilogy at the end. Four sets of three books just seems a lot better than two sets of five and a set of three.

Which means that once I put out Book 3 (the one I’m drafting right now), I’ll put out a bundle with the first three books. I’ll need to learn some stuff to do that, plus I want to wait a few weeks before I do it.

Let me know what you think!
